The year is 2050
I’m 70 years old. How about you?
Have you thought ahead to life in the next few decades?
I remember being a kid in the 80’s. Life was slower-paced for sure. Though it wasn’t perfect, I feel like things are different, especially when it comes to kids’ health.
Autism has increased by over 1000% since 1970. Back then, 1/5,000 kids were diagnosed. Now? 1/36.
Autoimmune diseases are also increasing. We can debate studies, but most say 3-9% increase each year.
And food allergies. It is becoming “normal” to have a food allergy. If you were born before the year 1985, you can probably remember a time in your life when food allergies were extremely rare.
What led me to GAPS was our own family’s health complexities. My daughter Olivia was born with a genetic disorder that left her with multiple anomolies throughout her body. After a few surgeries and long doses of antibiotics, she began to develop her own food sensitivities. I learned about the GAPS nutritional protocol and she was able to heal from all of those sensitivities. I am so thankful for Dr. Natasha’s dedication to research thorough analysis to how our gut health is the key to all of these difficulties.
While I love teaching adults, coaching clients, and creating workshops, my passion is to teach kids. They are the next generation and we have handed them quite a mess!
Convenience foods, highly processed and cartoon packaging, many kids have never eaten a food that doesn’t have some sort of fun label wrapping up the contents like a Christmas present.
Through fun activities, learning about how to take care of their bodies can be the beginning of a healthy future. Be sure to check in often as I continue to add new activities, links, recipes, and especially books to help your child or student learn about their amazing body.
